How do police recruiters deal with the new generation breaking crimes that weren't possible 10 years ago?

For example, a lot of teens these days are downloading music and movies en masse and "sexting" is catching on a lot around the country in high schools. Are police agencies taking these into account or when these youth grow up and aspire to become police officers, that naughty picture sent to a boyfriend/girlfriend and the hundreds of songs downloaded on the ipod will barr them from law enforcement indefintely?

Basically how will the online downloading and minors looking at other minors pictures be viewed when they plan to apply years down the road?

Multiple undetected thefts and illegal pornography or youthful indiscretions?

Good question! Each person's background or case is viewed on an individual basis. Sometimes, and certainly not in every case, youthful indescretions or offenses that were committed as juveniles are not as damaging as they would be if committed when one is an adult. How long ago indescretions or offenses were committed is taken into account. From my experience, illegally downloading music, etc. is often viewed the same as other thefts of similar grading.

Right. Downloading songs and sending naughty pictures as a juvenile would probably not "barr them from law enforcement" forever.
