Could I be a police officer? _
PostSubject: Could I be a police officer?   Could I be a police officer? EmptyWed Apr 14, 2010 2:25 pm

I am traveling to Nashville in the next few weeks to take the physical and written exam. I have a few concerns, which I prolly already know the answer dont waste your time. First my driving record isn't perfect, I had prolly 3 speeding tickets (about 5 years ago) and 1 about 8 months ago. The one's 5 years ago never showed up as tickets, it just say's Failure to pay on my license and it was suspended but I did take care of it. Second, my credit isn't perfect, messed it up shortly after I turned 18, but since then i've been trying hard to get it back, im up to around 560 now. Last, i'm worried about a few things in my past, college years, i'm sure we all had them. A few small crimes (no more than 2), we were all young and stupid. I was never arrested for them, just worried about them finding out. I'm a correctional officer now, so I dont think the last part would be a problem, since I was finger printed with them and everything. Any help is appreciated. I'd also like to mention I've worked hard to keep my driving record clean, in the last 3 year 2 speeding tickets (both of which were suppose to be taken care of by the judge and the officer, but somehow they got overlooked, so I ended up still having to pay)

Your driving record doesn't have to be perfect, but the less violations on your record, the better. I know a couple officers that had worse driving histories than you before they became officers. But that was years ago. How old are you now? 560 is somewhat low for a credit score, but if you are young, and made a couple financial mistakes, that is not so uncommon. What kind of crimes are you talking about. That can make a big difference, and it could matter even if you weren't caught. Being a correctional officer might help you if you have a very good record and reputation at work. Depending on whether you finished college, and depending on what crimes you've committed and how long ago that was, you could still get hired. Score as high as you can on the written exam and physical fitness test. If you get an interview, ace it!

I know that record looks bad, but I've been working hard to keep it clean. Those college days, alot of trips to and from home. Those mountains of NC were fun! Felt like I was in nascar on those curves.

Also, as far as I can remeber there were only 3 B&E's
