Does anyone know of any big police departments hiring in PA? I wanna get on with a big department so i have a better chance to move up the ranks.

Penn State University Police are hiring.

PA has WAY too many small departments. Most of them want to hire part-time officers to save money. Find a big department if you can!

Again, not a big department, but the City of Meadville Police are testing and hiring 2 officers.

Actually, Penn State is one of the bigger departments in the state.

The Department of the Defense is hiring civilian police officers to work at the Defense Logistics Agency in New Cumberland, PA. There are currently 11 vacancies!

In addition to other duties, sworn police officers at the DLA in New Cumberland patrol installation and property to prevent crime, protect life and property and enforce local regulations and laws. They plan and carry out appropriate steps according to specific case conditions, and use personal judgment in interpreting, adapting, applying and deviating from guidelines based on unusual or emergency situations. They perform traffic duties including directing traffic, issuing tickets/notices for vehicle operation, and parking violations. They review drivers licenses and registrations; operates speed devices to record speed; assists motorists with vehicles that have become disabled. They perform inspections on outgoing personnel and their packages and vehicles at various gates and checkpoints to detect, detain, or cite those who attempt to steal government property.

The Zelienople Police Department probably only has about 10 officers, but the Zelienople Civil Service Commission will be conducting competitive testing on October 7, 2011 at the Allegheny County Police Academy to establish a police eligibility list.

The Pennsylvania State Police are accepting applications for Liquor Enforcement Officers. The application period for Liquor Enforcement Officer Trainee will close on Friday, December 2, 2011, 11:59 p.m., with the next written examination tentatively scheduled to be administered in January 2012.

The Ross Township Police Department is going to be hiring. They are testing on January 7, 2012. Applications must be in by December 16th. There is a $40.00 examination fee. I think they only have approximately 30 officers.

The City of Bethlehem is accepting applications until April 4th, 2012. They have a good department.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission are accepting applications for waterways conservation officers.

Hanover Township is hiring seasonal police officers to work part-time for events at the Live Nation First Niagara Pavilion.

The City of Sharon is accepting applications. Applications are being accepted until May 25th, 2012.
