I have a quick question. Someone sent me this forum and said it was a good place to ask.

At the moment I'm looking for jobs at the police. However, I would like to know if it's possible to work at the police in the USA as a non US citizen (I'm from Europe).

The reason I ask is because I would like to know which opportunities I have studying and working abroad.

Some police departments such as the Los Angeles Police Department will hire non-citizens if they are permanent residents and they have applied to become citizens. The last time I checked, the Chicago Police Department would also hire non-citizens.

It isn't possible to become a police officer in my state unless you are a U.S. citizen. I think this is true in some other states also.

Your chances of becoming a police officer in the U.S. without being a U.S. citizen aren't very good. Most police departments in the U.S. won't hire you unless you are a citizen. Even if the department could hire you with only a green card, citizens would probably be hired instead. Good luck though!
