This may vary from state to state, department to department, etc. In general, it's pretty clear that someone that has a mark on their record cannot join a police force. But what if that felon was pardoned by the governor of the state in which he was convicted? In this case, it would be Oregon. But, information about other states is welcome, too. I'm already aware that even if a pardoned felon is technically eligible, that the department can still choose not to hire him, so please don't get into that. I'm curious about legal eligibility. Also, if you have reliable sources for your information, links would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for your replies

If you receive a pardon, you can become an officer.

I agree. It would probably be difficult to get hired, but it is possible.

You ARE technically eligible to become a police officer if you receive a pardon.
